Seven days in Rio de Janeiro, the birthplace of Jiu-Jitsu. Train in legendary academies, connect with the roots of the art, and see a side of the city no tourist itinerary will ever show you.
The holiday your training has been waiting for. Rio de Janeiro, curated for Jiu-Jitsu. Legendary academies, training with local black belts, and a Rio de Janeiro you'd never find on your own.
If you train, you already carry a piece of Brazil with you. You just haven't been here yet. I'm curating a week that takes you deeper than the usual trip: Cristo, the beaches, the icons, but also a real welcome from the local community, and a stronger connection to the art you train every week.
Open mat, all belts. Two of Rio de Janeiro's most storied schools, paired so you feel the range of the art.
The sights you came for. We take you to the icons at the right hours, with the right view.
A session with a black belt who helped carry Jiu-Jitsu across the world. Not a seminar. The real history of the art, told by someone who lived it and shaped it.
Santa Teresa, Lapa, the bars and botecos Cariocas actually go to. The Rio de Janeiro you don't find in a guidebook.
One proper venue. The Rio de Janeiro sound that doesn't translate to a playlist.
Fire, meat, and the people you spent the week rolling with.
I'm Brazilian, based in The Hague, and I've spent the last 10 years organizing over 25 international delegations for governments, investors, and startup ecosystems around the world.
I'm also a BJJ brown belt. And the more I train, the more I see what this art does to people. There's a real connection forming with Brazil, but almost no one gets to go deeper into it. I built Raízes for that. For practitioners who want to connect with the roots of Jiu-Jitsu: the history, the lineage, the culture that makes it more than exercise, while finally ticking off Rio de Janeiro, the city that ends up on every practitioner's bucket list.
So I built the trip I would want: small group, real access, no tourist nonsense. The kind of week you'd want to do with the people you already train with.
The restaurants, bars, and streets, all curated by Brazilians who built this trip around the art, not by a travel agent. No tourist traps.

About Raízes
Raízes BJJ creates immersion programs that bring European practitioners to Rio de Janeiro, the city where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was born, developed, and turned into a global art form.
Most practitioners around the world train Jiu-Jitsu without ever experiencing where it comes from. Raízes exists to change that, through small groups, real academy access, and a Rio de Janeiro shown the way it should be shown.
The art has a history, a geography, a lineage.
Not a tournament trip. An immersion.
Small groups. Real access. No seminars.
For the art, its founders, and the city.
€300 deposit holds your spot. We'll send program PDF, hotel guide, and flight tips within 24h.
